Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Henry Benedict Stuart

Henry Benedict Stuart, born on March sixth, seventeen twenty-five, was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church, serving as a priest, deacon, and bishop. He was the younger brother of Charles Edward Stuart, famously known as the Young Pretender or Bonnie Prince Charlie. Unlike his brother, Henry did not pursue the thrones of Great Britain and Ireland, choosing instead a life dedicated to his faith.

Following the death of Charles in seventeen eighty-eight, Henry garnered recognition among Jacobites as Henry IX and I. However, the Papacy did not acknowledge his claim to the throne, referring to him instead as the Cardinal Duke of York. This title reflected his noble lineage and connection to the Jacobite cause.

Most commonly known as the Duke of York, a title bestowed upon him by his father within the Jacobite peerage, Henry's life was marked by a commitment to his religious duties and a detachment from the political ambitions that characterized his brother's life. His legacy remains intertwined with the history of the Jacobite movement and the Catholic Church.
