Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Henry Parkes

Henry Parkes, born on May twenty-seventh, eighteen fifteen, was a prominent colonial Australian politician, journalist, and writer. He is best remembered as the longest-serving non-consecutive premier of the Colony of New South Wales, which is now part of the Commonwealth of Australia. His political career was marked by a fervent advocacy for the federation of Australia's six colonies, earning him the title of the 'Father of Federation.'

Parkes was an early critic of British convict transportation and a strong proponent for the expansion of the Australian continental rail network. His vision for a united Australia was articulated in his famous Tenterfield Oration delivered in eighteen eighty-nine. This pivotal speech led to the federal conference in eighteen ninety and the Constitutional Convention in eighteen ninety-one, setting the stage for the eventual federation of Australia.

Despite his passing in eighteen ninety-six, five years before the federation was realized, Parkes' influence on Australian politics remained profound. He was regarded as 'the most commanding figure in Australian politics' by The Times during his lifetime. Alfred Deakin, a fellow politician, acknowledged Parkes' complexities, describing him as a 'large-brained self-educated Titan' whose natural domain was the Parliament.
