Hifikepunye Pohamba

Hifikepunye Pohamba, born on August eighteenth, nineteen thirty-five, is a distinguished Namibian politician who made significant contributions to his country as the second president of Namibia from March twenty-first, two thousand five, to March twenty-first, two thousand fifteen. Elected overwhelmingly in the two thousand four presidential election as the candidate of the SWAPO party, he secured a second term in two thousand nine, demonstrating his strong leadership and popularity.

Before ascending to the presidency, Pohamba held various ministerial roles following Namibia's independence in nineteen ninety. His political career began as the Minister of Home Affairs from nineteen ninety to nineteen ninety-five, followed by his tenure as Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources from nineteen ninety-five to nineteen ninety-seven. He also served as Minister without portfolio from nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand and as Minister of Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation from two thousand to two thousand five.

In addition to his ministerial duties, Pohamba played a vital role within the SWAPO party, serving as secretary-general from nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand two and later as vice-president from two thousand two to two thousand seven.
