Of noble lineage, Hildegard hailed from both Frankish and Alemannian heritage. Her marriage to Charlemagne was not only a union of love but also a partnership that significantly influenced the governance of the empire.
Throughout their eleven years together, Hildegard bore nine children, contributing to the lineage of future rulers. Among her offspring were Charles the Younger and Pepin of Italy, as well as Louis the Pious, who would later ascend to the throne as emperor.
