Hilma af Klint

Hilma af Klint, born on October twenty-sixth, eighteen sixty-two, was a pioneering Swedish artist and mystic whose innovative approach to painting has left an indelible mark on the art world. Her works are celebrated as some of the earliest major abstract compositions in Western art history, predating the renowned abstract pieces of contemporaries such as Kandinsky, Malevich, and Mondrian.

As a member of a unique collective known as 'The Five', af Klint and her fellow artists were deeply influenced by Theosophy.
