Hines Ward

Hines Edward Ward Jr., born on March 8, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea, is a distinguished American football coach and former player, currently serving as the wide receivers coach for Arizona State. His journey in football began at the University of Georgia, where he showcased his talent as a wide receiver before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft.

Ward's entire professional career was spent with the Steelers, where he etched his name in the franchise's history as the all-time leader in receptions, receiving yardage, and touchdown receptions. His remarkable performance earned him the MVP title in Super Bowl XL, and upon retirement, he joined an elite group of only eleven NFL players to achieve over one thousand career receptions. Widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers of the 2000s, Ward played a pivotal role in the Steelers' success during that decade.

Beyond the gridiron, Ward has made appearances in various film and television projects, including the reality series Dancing with the Stars, and had brief cameos in the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises and the television series The Walking Dead. He served as a studio analyst for NBC's Football Night in America from 2012 to 2015 and joined CNN and HLN in May 2016. Additionally, he held the position of player relations executive for the Alliance of American Football.

In 2019, Ward transitioned into coaching as an offensive assistant for the New York Jets, collaborating with wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson. By 2021, he took on the role of special assistant to the head coach at Florida Atlantic University. Growing up in the Atlanta area, Ward has become a vocal advocate for the social acceptance of foreigners in Korea, particularly for mixed-race youth, reflecting his own diverse heritage.
