Hira Devi Waiba

Hira Devi Waiba, born on September ninth, nineteen forty, is celebrated as a pioneering figure in the realm of Nepali folk music. Renowned for her contributions to the Nepali-language folk genre, she has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Nepal.

One of her most notable achievements includes the song "Chura ta Hoina Astura," recognized as the first Tamang Selo ever recorded. This milestone not only showcases her talent but also highlights her role in popularizing a significant genre of Nepali folk music.

In addition to her groundbreaking recordings, Hira Devi Waiba holds the distinction of being the only Nepali folk singer to have released albums with His Master's Voice in nineteen seventy-four and nineteen seventy-eight. Her unique voice and artistic expression have earned her the title of the sole Grade A Nepali Folk Singer with All India Radio.

Moreover, she was the first musical artist to have an album recorded and released by Music Nepal, a leading music house in the country. Prior to her involvement, Music Nepal primarily focused on releasing compilations and remastered songs, marking her as a trailblazer in the industry.
