Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, born on April twenty-third, nineteen sixty-four, was a prominent Iranian politician and diplomat. He held the esteemed position of foreign minister of Iran from two thousand twenty-one until his untimely death in a helicopter crash in two thousand twenty-four. His career was marked by significant contributions to Iran's foreign policy and diplomatic relations.

Before his tenure as foreign minister, Amir-Abdollahian served as the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs from two thousand eleven to two thousand sixteen. His expertise in international relations was further demonstrated through his role as a special aide to the speaker of the Iranian Parliament on international affairs, as well as his position as Director General of International Affairs of the Islamic Consultative Assembly during the presidencies of Ali Larijani and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

In addition to his diplomatic roles, he was the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the International Conference on Supporting Palestine Intifada and managed the Palestine Strategic Dialogue Quarterly. His appointment as Deputy Foreign Minister came during Ali Akbar Salehi's ministry and continued through the initial years of Mohammad Javad Zarif's leadership.

Amir-Abdollahian's close association with Ali Larijani positioned him as a potential candidate for the ministerial role following Zarif's undeclared resignation, highlighting his influence and standing within Iranian politics.
