In nineteen twenty-three, he settled in the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, where he became a vital part of Yerevan State University until his passing. His extensive research into Armenian dialects and his cataloging of Armenian manuscripts contributed greatly to the field of linguistics. He also authored comprehensive studies on the history of the Armenian language and its alphabet, earning him the title of the father of Armenian linguistics.
