Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić

Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić, born in the year thirteen fifty, was a distinguished medieval nobleman from Bosnia, recognized for his significant influence as a magnate and Grand Duke of Bosnia. He held the title of Knez of Donji Kraji and Duke of Split, establishing himself as a key figure in the feudal landscape of the Kingdom of Bosnia.

As the most prominent member of the Hrvatinić noble family, Hrvoje served under four Bosnian kings: Tvrtko I, Stephen Dabiša, Stephen Ostoja, and Tvrtko II. His political acumen was evident when, in fourteen hundred and three, he was appointed by Ladislaus of Naples as his deputy for Dalmatia, receiving the esteemed title of Duke of Split, which later evolved into Herzog of Split.

Hrvoje's legacy is marked by his pivotal role in the dynastic conflicts between the Anjou and Luxembourg claimants to the Hungarian-Croatian throne during the late fourteenth century. His contributions were instrumental in the rise of the Bosnian Kingdom as a formidable regional power during this transformative period.
