Hsing Yun, born on August nineteenth, nineteen twenty-seven, was a prominent Chinese Buddhist monk and calligrapher whose influence extended far beyond the shores of Taiwan. As the founder of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist monastic order, he dedicated his life to the promotion of Humanistic Buddhism, a movement that emphasizes the application of Buddhist principles in everyday life.
