Hugh Laurie

Hugh Laurie, born on June 11, 1959, is a multifaceted English actor, comedian, and musician whose career spans several decades and genres. He first gained prominence as part of the iconic comedy duo Fry and Laurie alongside Stephen Fry. Their collaboration produced memorable works, including the beloved BBC sketch series A Bit of Fry & Laurie and the adaptation of P.G. Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster, which showcased their unique comedic talents during the 1980s and 1990s.

Laurie's versatility is evident in his extensive television work, particularly his role as Dr. Gregory House in the critically acclaimed Fox medical drama House, which aired from 2004 to 2012. His portrayal of the brilliant yet troubled doctor earned him two Golden Globe Awards and numerous accolades, solidifying his status as one of television's most recognized leading men. In 2011, he was even listed in the Guinness World Records as the most-watched leading man on television.

Following House, Laurie continued to impress audiences with his performance as arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper in the series The Night Manager, which premiered in 2016. This role garnered him another Golden Globe Award. Additionally, he received his 10th Emmy Award nomination for his portrayal of Senator Tom James in the HBO sitcom Veep, which aired from 2015 to 2019.
