Ianis Hagi, born on October 22, 1998, is a talented Romanian professional footballer who excels as an attacking midfielder or winger. Currently, he plays for Süper Lig club Alanyaspor and represents the Romania national team, showcasing his skills on both domestic and international stages.
Hagi's football journey began at a young age when he made his professional debut for Viitorul Constanța at just sixteen years old. His early training at the academy founded by his father, Gheorghe Hagi, a legendary figure in Romanian football, laid a strong foundation for his career. In 2016, he took a significant step by moving to Italy to join Fiorentina, although his time there was brief, with only two appearances in Serie A.
After returning to Viitorul Constanța a year and a half later, Hagi helped the team secure the Cupa României, further establishing his reputation. In 2019, he made another move, this time to Belgian club Genk, before joining Rangers in January 2020 on an initial loan that was later made permanent. His contributions were pivotal in leading Rangers to a league title in the following season.
On the international front, Hagi earned his first full cap for Romania in November 2018 during a UEFA Nations League match against Lithuania, which ended in a three-nil victory. He was also selected for Romania's squad in UEFA Euro 2024, where the team impressively won their group and advanced to the round of sixteen.
