Ibn Baz

Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah Al Baz, widely known as Ibn Baz, was born on November twenty-first, nineteen twelve, and became a prominent figure in the Islamic world. He served as the second Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia from nineteen ninety-three until his passing in nineteen ninety-nine. His contributions to Islamic scholarship and jurisprudence have left a lasting impact on the Muslim community.

Throughout his life, Ibn Baz was not only a cleric and judge but also a prolific writer and influential Islamicist. His scholarly work and teachings were instrumental in shaping contemporary Islamic thought, particularly in the context of political and social issues facing Muslims.

One of his notable actions was issuing a fatwa that authorized a wealth tax to support the mujahideen during the anti-Soviet jihad. This endorsement played a crucial role in the successful mobilization for jihad against the Soviet Union, marking a significant moment in modern Islamic history.

Ibn Baz's influence extended beyond his fatwas; he endorsed the book 'In Defence of Muslim Lands,' primarily authored by Abdullah Azzam. This work is recognized as a pivotal call for jihad, being one of the first official declarations by a nation-state against another in contemporary times.
