İbrahim Kaypakkaya

İbrahim Kaypakkaya, born in 1949, emerged as a prominent Turkish Maoist and a revolutionary figure in the political landscape of Turkey. He is best known for founding the Communist Party of Turkey/Marxist-Leninist (TKP/ML), which sought to advocate for Marxist-Leninist and Maoist ideologies in a country marked by political turmoil.

Throughout his life, Kaypakkaya became a symbol of resistance, revered by many for his unwavering commitment to revolutionary principles. His ability to synthesize the ideas of major leaders and thinkers in Marxism–Leninism and Maoism has left a lasting impact on leftist movements in Turkey and beyond.

In 1973, during a confrontation with the Turkish military in Tunceli Province, Kaypakkaya was captured after sustaining injuries. His subsequent execution in Diyarbakır Prison four months later marked a tragic end to a life dedicated to the pursuit of social justice and revolutionary change.
