Igor Paklin, born on June fifteenth, nineteen sixty-three, is a retired Soviet Kyrgyz athlete renowned for his exceptional skills in high jump. He represented the USSR and later Kyrgyzstan, training at the Armed Forces sports society in Frunze. His athletic prowess was evident as he competed at the highest levels of the sport.
In nineteen eighty-seven, Paklin achieved remarkable success by winning the World Indoor Championships and securing a silver medal at the World Championships for the USSR. His personal best jump of two point forty-one metres, achieved on September fourth, nineteen eighty-five, stood as the world record until June thirtieth, nineteen eighty-seven, when it was surpassed by Patrik Sjöberg by a mere one centimetre.
Paklin's leap of two point forty-one metres places him among the elite, ranking as the fifth-highest jumper in history. He was a pioneer of the Fosbury Flop style, being the first to execute this technique while jumping off his right leg, which has since become the standard for modern high jumpers.
However, his life took a dramatic turn in nineteen ninety-five when he was imprisoned for manslaughter, marking a significant and unfortunate chapter in his story.
