Illia Kyva, born on June second, nineteen seventy-seven, was a multifaceted Ukrainian figure known for his roles as a military personnel, deputy, politician, accountant, and engineering technologist. His political journey began with his leadership of the Poltava chapter of the Right Sector party, which laid the groundwork for his later prominence in Ukrainian politics.
From two thousand seventeen to two thousand nineteen, Kyva served as the leader of the Socialist Party of Ukraine. His political aspirations peaked when he ran for the presidency in March two thousand nineteen, although he was not successful. Later that year, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada as a member of the Opposition Platform — For Life party, marking a significant milestone in his political career.
In January two thousand twenty-two, amidst the escalating conflict in Ukraine, Kyva fled to Spain and subsequently to Russia. His support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in February, led to his parliamentary mandate being revoked by the Verkhovna Rada on March fifteenth. Following these events, he was sentenced for treason in Ukraine.
Tragically, on December sixth, two thousand twenty-three, Illia Kyva was shot dead in an incident attributed to the Security Service of Ukraine, marking a controversial end to a tumultuous political life.
