Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Illus

Illus was a prominent military officer and politician during a tumultuous period in the Eastern Roman Empire. His career was marked by significant involvement in the reigns of Emperors Zeno and Basiliscus, where he played a pivotal role in the shifting allegiances of the time.

Initially, Illus supported the revolt led by Basiliscus against Emperor Zeno. However, his loyalties shifted as he later backed Zeno's return to power between the years four hundred seventy-five and four hundred seventy-six. His military prowess was evident as he successfully defeated the usurper Marcianus, solidifying his reputation as a capable general.

Despite his successes, Illus's career was not without conflict. He found himself at odds with the Dowager Empress Verina, which ultimately led him to support the revolt of Leontius. Unfortunately, this rebellion did not succeed, and Illus met his demise as a result of the ensuing turmoil.
