Imangali Tasmagambetov, born on December ninth, nineteen fifty-six, is a prominent Kazakh politician and diplomat. His career has spanned various significant roles, including serving as the Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization from two thousand twenty-three to two thousand twenty-five. Tasmagambetov's diplomatic journey also included his tenure as the Kazakh Ambassador to Russia from two thousand seventeen to two thousand nineteen.
Before his ambassadorial role, Tasmagambetov held several key positions within the Kazakh government. He was the Deputy Prime Minister from two thousand sixteen to two thousand seventeen and served as the Minister of Defense from two thousand fourteen to two thousand sixteen. His leadership experience also includes being the akim of Astana from two thousand eight to two thousand fourteen and the akim of Almaty from two thousand four to two thousand eight.
His political career took a notable turn when he was appointed Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from two thousand two to two thousand three. Tasmagambetov resigned from this position after uncovering the falsification of a positive vote of confidence in his administration on May nineteenth, two thousand three. This resignation led to the dismissal of his entire cabinet, in accordance with the Constitution of Kazakhstan.
