Immanuel Velikovsky

Velikovsky's theories proposed that Earth experienced catastrophic encounters with other planets, particularly Venus and Mars, which he argued had profound effects on ancient civilizations. His approach utilized comparative mythology and ancient texts, including the Old Testament, to support his claims. This innovative yet controversial perspective positioned him among a lineage of traditional catastrophists, as noted by British astronomers Victor Clube and Bill Napier.
