Infanta Amalia of Spain, born on October twelfth, eighteen thirty-four, was the youngest daughter of Infante Francisco de Paula of Spain. Her family ties were significant, as her eldest brother, Francisco de Asís, was married to Queen Isabella II of Spain, making her a first cousin to the queen. Among her five sisters, she was one of only two who entered into royal marriages.
In eighteen fifty-six, Amalia's life took a new direction when she married Prince Adalbert of Bavaria, the son of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. This union led her to relocate to Munich, where she would spend the remainder of her life. Despite her new home, Amalia maintained a strong connection to her native Spain.
Throughout her life, Amalia played a pivotal role in her family's affairs, particularly in matters of marriage. She was instrumental in arranging the marriage of her eldest son, Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria, to her niece, Infanta Paz of Spain, thereby strengthening the bonds between the two royal families.
