Inge Lehmann

Inge Lehmann, born on May thirteenth, eighteen eighty-eight, was a groundbreaking Danish seismologist and geophysicist. Her remarkable contributions to the field of earth sciences have left an indelible mark, particularly her pivotal discovery in nineteen thirty-six of the solid inner core that exists within the molten outer core of the Earth.

Lehmann's research extended beyond the inner core; she also identified a significant seismic discontinuity in the speed of seismic waves at depths between one hundred ninety and two hundred fifty kilometers. This critical finding is now known as the Lehmann discontinuity, a testament to her pioneering spirit and scientific acumen.
