Ingrid Veninger

Ingrid Veninger, born on August 21, 1968, is a multifaceted Canadian talent known for her work as an actress, writer, director, producer, and film professor at York University. Her journey in the entertainment industry began at a young age, where she showcased her skills as a child actor in commercials and television. As a teenager, she gained recognition for her roles in the CBC series Airwaves from 1986 to 1987 and the CBS series Friday the 13th: The Series from 1987 to 1990.

In the 1990s, Veninger expanded her horizons by venturing into producing. In 2003, she established her own production company, pUNK Films, which allowed her to take creative control over her projects as a writer and director. Her directorial debut came in 2008 with the release of Only, a low-budget feature film that was produced for twenty thousand dollars.

Throughout her career, Veninger has written and directed six feature films, including Only (2008), Modra (2010), i am a good person/i am a bad person (2011), The Animal Project (2013), He Hated Pigeons (2015), and Porcupine Lake (2017). Each of these films has been showcased at various film festivals globally, highlighting her unique storytelling and directorial vision.

Veninger's contributions to the film industry have not gone unnoticed. In 2011, she was honored with the Toronto Film Critics Association's Jay Scott Prize for an emerging artist. Additionally, in 2013, she received an EDA Award from the Alliance of Women Film Journalists at the Whistler Film Festival. The Globe and Mail has recognized her as 'The DIY Queen of Canadian Filmmaking,' a testament to her innovative approach and dedication to her craft.
