Irene Condachi

Irene Condachi, born on June seventh, nineteen ninety-nine, was a pioneering Maltese physician whose contributions to healthcare during a tumultuous period are noteworthy. As one of only two female doctors practicing in Malta during World War II, she broke barriers in a male-dominated field, demonstrating resilience and dedication to her profession.

Her commitment to public health led her to become one of the founders of the school medical service in Malta. In this role, she served as the medical officer for the government school, where her efforts were instrumental in improving the health standards of children across the island.

Among her significant achievements, Irene is credited with the successful eradication of scabies within the education system. This accomplishment not only enhanced the well-being of countless students but also set a precedent for future public health initiatives in Malta.
