Irfaan Ali, born on April twenty-fifth, nineteen eighty, is a prominent Guyanese politician who has been serving as the tenth president of Guyana since August second, twenty twenty. As a member of the People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), he has made significant contributions to the political landscape of Guyana.

Before ascending to the presidency, Ali held the position of Minister of Housing and Water from two thousand nine to two thousand fifteen. His political journey also includes serving as a member of parliament and a cabinet minister under President Donald Ramotar until two thousand fifteen.

In twenty twenty, Ali emerged as the presidential candidate for the PPP/C and successfully won the general election held in March of that year. His inauguration was delayed due to extensive legal challenges regarding the election's integrity, culminating in a recount of all electoral ballots.
