Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan, born on October 27, 1984, is a celebrated Indian cricketer and film actor, renowned for his contributions to the sport as a bowling all-rounder. He was a pivotal member of the Indian cricket team that clinched the inaugural 2007 ICC Twenty20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Pathan's journey in cricket began at a young age, breaking into the national team shortly after turning nineteen, where he quickly drew comparisons to the legendary Wasim Akram due to his exceptional swing bowling.

Pathan's career highlights include becoming the only bowler to achieve a Test hat-trick in the first over of a match against Pakistan in early 2006. Despite a promising start, his form fluctuated, leading to a decline in his wicket-taking ability and a temporary exit from the team by the end of 2006. However, he made a remarkable comeback in the 2007 World Twenty20, where he was instrumental in India's victory over Pakistan in the final, earning the title of man of the match.

Under the guidance of coach Greg Chappell, Pathan honed his batting skills, transitioning into a complete all-rounder. His performances during this period saw him rise to the second position in the ICC's ODI rankings for all-rounders. He showcased his batting prowess by scoring a notable ninety-three runs in a Test match against Sri Lanka in December 2005 and consistently taking crucial wickets.

Despite facing challenges with form and injuries, Pathan continued to excel at the domestic level, particularly during the 2011–12 Ranji Trophy, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker. His resilience and talent eventually led to his recall to the national team. In addition to his cricketing career, Pathan participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2015 and made his acting debut in the 2022 film Cobra, showcasing his versatility beyond the cricket field.
