Irina Meleshina

Irina Meleshina, born on May 25, 1982, is a distinguished Russian long jumper known for her remarkable athletic prowess. She made a significant mark in the world of athletics by clinching the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics, showcasing her talent on an international stage.

Following her Olympic success, Meleshina took a step back from competitive athletics for a couple of years. Despite entering the 2005 World Championships, she did not compete, as she was preparing for a new chapter in her life. In the summer of 2006, she welcomed a daughter, marking a pivotal moment in her personal journey.

After a brief hiatus, Meleshina made her return to the sport in early 2007, demonstrating her resilience and dedication to athletics. Her personal best jump of 7.27 metres, achieved in July 2004 in Tula, remains a testament to her exceptional skills and commitment to the sport.
