Isabel dos Santos, born on April 20, 1973, is a prominent Angolan entrepreneur and socialite, recognized as the eldest child of José Eduardo dos Santos, who served as Angola's president from 1979 to 2017. Her rise to wealth began in 2013 when Forbes highlighted her strategic investments in various companies operating within Angola, indicating that her financial success was largely attributed to her family's influence and connections.

In recent years, dos Santos has faced significant legal challenges. Since 2018, the Angolan government has pursued corruption charges against her, which are believed to have contributed to the country's ongoing economic recession. In December 2019, the Luanda Provincial Court took drastic measures by freezing her bank accounts in Angola and seizing her stakes in major local companies, including Unitel and Banco de Fomento Angola.
