Isidor Niflot

Isidor Niflot, born on April sixteenth, eighteen eighty-one, was an accomplished amateur wrestler who made his mark in the early twentieth century. Originally hailing from Russia, he was raised in the vibrant city of New York, New York, where he honed his athletic skills.

Niflot's most notable achievement came during the 1904 Summer Olympics, where he competed in the inaugural freestyle bantamweight category. This event marked a significant moment in Olympic history, as it was the first time freestyle wrestling was included in the Games. Out of seven competitors, Niflot emerged victorious, securing the gold medal and solidifying his legacy in the sport.

After his Olympic triumph, Niflot continued to be a prominent figure in the wrestling community. He later settled in Sullivan County, New York, where he spent many years contributing to the local sports scene and inspiring future generations of athletes.
