Ita Ever

Ita Ever, born on April 1, 1931, was a celebrated Estonian actress whose illustrious career spanned film, radio, theatre, and television. Known as the Grand Old Lady of Estonian theatre, she made her mark in the performing arts beginning in 1953 as a stage actress, captivating audiences with her talent and versatility.

Throughout her career, Ever appeared in numerous Estonian and Russian film productions, showcasing her ability to bring a wide range of characters to life. She was married to fellow Estonian actor Eino Baskin and was the proud mother of Roman Baskin, who followed in her footsteps as a director and actor.

In 1983, she took on the iconic role of Miss Marple in the Russian film adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel, A Pocket Full of Rye, titled Secret of the Blackbirds. This performance further solidified her status as a prominent figure in the arts.

Ever's repertoire included stage and film adaptations of works by renowned authors such as Oskar Luts, A. H. Tammsaare, Mats Traat, Agatha Christie, Nikolai Gogol, William Shakespeare, John Steinbeck, Henrik Ibsen, and Anton Chekhov, demonstrating her remarkable range and dedication to her craft.
