Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney, born on March 16, 1996, is an English professional footballer who currently plays as a striker for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli and the England national team. Toney's journey in football began at Northampton Town, where he made history as the youngest player to debut for the club in 2012. Over his time there, he netted thirteen goals in sixty appearances across all competitions before making a move to Newcastle United in 2015.

During his initial season with Newcastle, Toney experienced two loan spells at Barnsley, where he contributed to the team's success by winning the 2015–16 Football League Trophy and the 2016 League One play-offs. His subsequent years saw him loaned out to Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, and Wigan Athletic, further honing his skills in League One.

In 2018, Toney made a permanent switch to Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee, where he truly shone by becoming the League One top scorer and earning the Player of the Season accolade in the 2019–20 campaign. His impressive performance caught the attention of Brentford, where he signed and went on to set a record with thirty-one goals during the 2020–21 season, playing a pivotal role in the club's promotion to the Premier League.

Toney's talent was recognized at the international level when he received his first call-up to the England national team in 2022, making his debut in 2023. However, his career faced a significant setback in May 2023 when he was found guilty of two hundred thirty-two breaches of the Football Association's betting rules, resulting in an eight-month ban from football, which will last until January 17, 2024.
