Ivo of Chartres

Ivo of Chartres, also known as Ives, Yves, or Yvo, was born around the year 1040 and became a prominent figure in the realm of Catholic canon law. His journey began as a canon regular and abbot, eventually leading him to the esteemed position of Bishop of Chartres in 1090, a role he held until his passing on December twenty-third, 1115.

During a tumultuous period known as the Investiture Crisis, Ivo emerged as a significant authority in canon law, contributing to the legal framework that shaped the Church's governance. His scholarly works, including the Tripartita, Decretum, and Panormia, are recognized as extensive contributions to the field, reflecting his deep understanding and commitment to ecclesiastical law.
