J. F. C. Fuller

J. F. C. Fuller, born on September first, eighteen seventy-eight, was a distinguished British Army officer and a prolific military historian and strategist. His career in the military saw him rise to the rank of senior officer, where he made significant contributions during World War I, particularly as a staff officer in the Tank Corps. Fuller played a pivotal role in planning the tank attack during the Battle of Cambrai, showcasing his innovative approach to warfare.

Fuller was not only a military officer but also a forward-thinking military theorist whose ideas left a lasting impact on military strategies in Britain, Germany, and the United States. He was a strong advocate for the potential of new weaponry, especially tanks and aircraft, and is often credited as one of the early architects of the blitzkrieg strategy. His ambitious Plan 1919 envisioned a fully mechanized offensive against the German army, although it was ultimately sidelined with the war's conclusion.

In the years following his military retirement, Fuller’s political views took a controversial turn as he became an admirer of Nazism. He joined several fascist and pro-Nazi organizations, including the British Union of Fascists and the Right Club. His political activities escalated to the point where, in nineteen forty, he was implicated in two coup plots against the British government. Remarkably, he managed to evade internment, a fate that befell many of his contemporaries, likely due to his military connections.
