Jack Northrop

Jack Northrop, born on November tenth, nineteen ninety-five, was a pioneering American aircraft industrialist and designer. He laid the foundation for the Northrop Corporation in nineteen thirty-nine, a significant milestone in the aviation industry.

His journey in aviation began in nineteen sixteen when he took on the role of a draftsman at Loughead Aircraft Manufacturing Company. By nineteen twenty-three, he had joined the Douglas Aircraft Company, where he contributed to the development of the Douglas World Cruiser and eventually rose to the position of project engineer.

In nineteen twenty-seven, Northrop transitioned to the Lockheed Corporation, serving as chief engineer on the Lockheed Vega transport. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Avion Corporation in nineteen twenty-nine, which he sold the following year. Two years later, he founded the Northrop Corporation, which would later become a subsidiary of Douglas Aircraft.
