Jack R. Lousma

Jack R. Lousma, born on February twenty-ninth, nineteen thirty-six, is a distinguished American astronaut and retired military officer. With a career that spans several fields, he has made significant contributions as an aeronautical engineer, naval aviator, and military flight engineer. His remarkable journey in space began as a member of the second crew of Skylab-3, where he played a vital role aboard the Skylab space station in nineteen seventy-three.

In nineteen eighty-two, Lousma took command of STS-3, marking the third mission of NASA's Space Shuttle program. His leadership and expertise in the field of aeronautics have earned him a place in history, culminating in his induction into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame in nineteen ninety-seven. Notably, he is the last living crew member from both of his spaceflights, a testament to his enduring legacy in space exploration.
