Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Jackie Speier

Jackie Speier, born on May fourteenth, nineteen fifty, is a distinguished American lawyer and politician. She served as the U.S. representative for California's fourteenth congressional district from two thousand eight until two thousand twenty-three. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Speier carried forward the legacy of her political mentor, Leo Ryan, representing much of the territory he once did.

Her political journey took a harrowing turn in nineteen seventy-eight when she survived five gunshot wounds during the tragic Jonestown massacre, where Ryan was assassinated. This life-altering experience only strengthened her resolve to serve the public, leading her to a significant role in the California State Senate, where she represented parts of San Francisco and San Mateo counties.

On April eighth, two thousand eight, Speier won a special election to fill the seat of the late Congressman Tom Lantos in the United States House of Representatives. After a commendable fifteen years in Congress, she announced in two thousand twenty-one that she would not seek reelection in the two thousand twenty-two midterm elections. In two thousand twenty-four, she was elected to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, continuing her commitment to public service.
