He first gained public attention as a contestant on the inaugural season of K-pop Star in 2012, where he showcased his musical talent and finished in sixth place. This early recognition led him to sign with JYP Entertainment, paving the way for his career in the music industry.

In September 2015, Jae debuted as the lead guitarist and vocalist of the South Korean pop rock band Day6. His time with the group was marked by significant achievements until his departure in December 2021. During his tenure, he contributed to the band's unique sound and gained a loyal fanbase.

Beyond his work with Day6, Jae has pursued a successful solo career under the stage name eaJ. In 2020, he launched the eaJ Project, where he released several self-written tracks on platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud. His collaborations with artists such as Seori, Keshi, and DPR Live have further solidified his presence in the music scene.
