He served as the National Security Advisor from 2021 to 2025 under President Joe Biden, a role that placed him at the forefront of critical national and international issues.

Before his tenure as National Security Advisor, Sullivan held several key positions in the U.S. government. He was the Director of Policy for President Barack Obama, where he played a vital role in shaping the administration's foreign policy. Additionally, he served as National Security Advisor to then-Vice President Biden and as Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary Hillary Clinton at the U.S. Department of State.
