James Alcock

James E. Alcock, born on December twenty-four, nineteen forty-two, is a distinguished professor emeritus of psychology at York University in Canada. With a career dedicated to the exploration of human cognition and behavior, Alcock has made significant contributions to the field of psychology, particularly through his critical examination of parapsychology.

As a prominent skeptic, Alcock has been an influential figure in the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, where he serves as a Fellow and a member of the Executive Council. His commitment to promoting scientific skepticism is further reflected in his role on the editorial board of The Skeptical Inquirer, where he frequently contributes articles that challenge pseudoscientific claims.

In recognition of his efforts, Alcock was honored in nineteen ninety-nine when a panel of skeptics named him one of the two dozen most outstanding skeptics of the twentieth century. His accolades continued in May two thousand four when he received the In Praise of Reason Award, the highest honor bestowed by CSICOP.
