James Burrows

James Burrows, born on December 30, 1940, is a distinguished American television director, screenwriter, and producer, often affectionately referred to as Jim or Jimmy Burrows. With a career that spans several decades, he has made an indelible mark on the television landscape, earning a remarkable eleven Primetime Emmy Awards and five Directors Guild of America Awards. His contributions to the industry were further recognized when he received the Directors Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award in two thousand fifteen, followed by a special tribute from NBC titled Must See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows in two thousand sixteen.

Burrows began his illustrious career in television with The Mary Tyler Moore Show in nineteen seventy-four, setting the stage for a prolific journey that would see him direct over fifty television pilots. He is perhaps best known for co-creating the iconic series Cheers, which aired from nineteen eighty-two to nineteen ninety-three.
