James Lankford, born on March fourth, nineteen sixty-eight, is a prominent American politician and ordained Southern Baptist minister. He currently serves as the senior United States senator from Oklahoma, a position he has held since two thousand fifteen. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, Lankford previously represented Oklahoma's fifth congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from two thousand eleven to two thousand fifteen.
Before his political career, Lankford was deeply involved in ministry and youth leadership. From nineteen ninety-six to two thousand nine, he served as the president of the Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center, a youth camp operated by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. His commitment to faith and community has been a cornerstone of his public service.
In two thousand ten, Lankford was elected to the House of Representatives, where he was reelected in two thousand twelve. His political journey continued when he won a special election in two thousand fourteen to fill the vacancy left by Senator Tom Coburn's planned resignation. Lankford has since been reelected to the Senate in two thousand sixteen and again in two thousand twenty-two, solidifying his influence in Oklahoma and beyond.
