James Milner

James Milner, born on January 4, 1986, is an esteemed English professional footballer currently playing as a midfielder for Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion. Renowned for his versatility, Milner has excelled in various positions, including wing, midfield, and full back. As of March 25, 2026, he holds the record for the highest number of appearances in the Premier League, with six hundred fifty-seven matches played over an impressive twenty-four-year career, surpassing the previous record held by Gareth Barry.

Milner's football journey began in his youth, playing for amateur teams in Rawdon and Horsforth. A lifelong supporter of Leeds United, he joined their Youth Academy in 1996. He made his first-team debut in 2002 at the tender age of sixteen, becoming the youngest player to score in the Premier League. To gain further experience, he spent time on loan at Swindon Town before being sold to Newcastle United following Leeds United's relegation in the 2003–04 season.

During his tenure at Newcastle United, Milner made over one hundred appearances and celebrated victory in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006. He later spent a year on loan at Aston Villa before signing with the club permanently in 2008.
