His portrayal of Dutch Schultz in The Cotton Club (1984) and Jack Duff in Miracle on 34th Street (1994) further solidified his status as a talented performer.

In the realm of television, Remar gained significant acclaim for his role as Richard Wright in the iconic series Sex and the City (2001–2004). He is also well-known for his portrayal of Harry Morgan, the father of the titular character in the critically acclaimed series Dexter (2006–2013) and its revival, Dexter: Resurrection (2025).
