James Toback, born on November 23, 1944, is a prominent American film director, screenwriter, and actor. He gained recognition for his work in the film industry, particularly for his screenplay for the 1991 film Bugsy, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Throughout his career, Toback has directed several notable films, including The Pick-up Artist, Two Girls and a Guy, and Black and White.

Despite his achievements in cinema, Toback's career has been marred by serious allegations. Toback has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining his innocence.

This legal action eventually involved forty accusers and culminated in a significant verdict on April 9, 2025, which ordered Toback to pay one billion six hundred eighty million dollars to the women involved.
