James Toback

James Toback, born on November 23, 1944, is a prominent American film director, screenwriter, and actor. He gained recognition for his work in the film industry, particularly for his screenplay for the 1991 film Bugsy, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Throughout his career, Toback has directed several notable films, including The Pick-up Artist, Two Girls and a Guy, and Black and White.

Despite his achievements in cinema, Toback's career has been marred by serious allegations. In 2018, the Los Angeles Times reported that three hundred ninety-five women had accused him of sexual harassment or assault over a span of four decades. Toback has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining his innocence.

In 2022, the situation escalated when thirty-eight women filed a lawsuit in New York, accusing him of sexual abuse. This legal action eventually involved forty accusers and culminated in a significant verdict on April 9, 2025, which ordered Toback to pay one billion six hundred eighty million dollars to the women involved.
