Jamila Afghani

Jamila Afghani, born in 1976, is a prominent Afghan women's rights activist dedicated to advancing the cause of gender equality in her homeland. As the founder and executive director of the Noor Educational and Capacity Development Organization (NECDO), she has been instrumental in providing educational opportunities and resources to women and girls in Afghanistan.

In addition to her work with NECDO, Jamila serves as an executive member of the Afghan Women's Network (AWN), a vital organization that unites various women's groups to advocate for their rights and empower them in a challenging socio-political landscape.

Her relentless efforts and commitment to humanitarian causes were recognized in 2022 when she was awarded the seventh annual Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity. This prestigious accolade highlights her significant contributions to the fight for women's rights and education in Afghanistan.
