Jan Wong

Jan Wong, born on August fifteenth, nineteen fifty-two, is a distinguished Canadian journalist and writer, renowned for her insightful contributions to the field of journalism. Her career took a significant turn when she served as the Beijing correspondent for The Globe and Mail from nineteen eighty-eight to nineteen ninety-four, a period during which she reported on pivotal events in China.

Upon returning to Canada, Wong became a prominent voice through her column, Lunch with Jan Wong, which gained popularity at the turn of the twenty-first century. However, her career faced challenges when she covered the tragic Dawson College shooting in two thousand six. The backlash from the public and even the Prime Minister led to a difficult period for Wong, exacerbated by a lack of support from The Globe's management, resulting in a bout of clinical depression.

In two thousand seven, Wong was dismissed from The Globe without cause, bound by a confidentiality agreement regarding her settlement.
