Janez Potočnik

Janez Potočnik, born on March twenty-second, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished Slovenian economist and politician. His career has been marked by significant contributions to both national and international arenas, particularly in the field of environmental policy.

From two thousand nine to two thousand fourteen, Potočnik served as the European Commissioner for the Environment, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the European Union's environmental agenda. Prior to this, he held the position of Slovenia's Minister for European Affairs, demonstrating his commitment to the integration of Slovenia within the European framework.

In November two thousand fourteen, he took on the role of co-chair of the International Resource Panel (IRP). This esteemed forum comprises scientists and experts dedicated to advancing sustainable natural resource management, further showcasing Potočnik's dedication to environmental issues.
