He turned professional in 1991 after clinching the NCAA Division 1 singles title while playing for Stanford University. Over his career on the ATP Tour, Palmer amassed an impressive total of twenty-eight professional doubles titles, including prestigious victories at the Australian Open in 1995 and Wimbledon in 2001.
