Jared Polis

Jared Polis, born on May 12, 1975, is a prominent American politician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who has made significant strides in public service. Since 2019, he has served as the 43rd governor of Colorado, a position he was first elected to in 2018 and subsequently reelected in 2022. His political journey began with a term on the Colorado State Board of Education from 2001 to 2007, followed by five terms as a United States representative for Colorado's 2nd congressional district from 2009 to 2019.

Polis is notable for his groundbreaking achievements in representation. In 2008, he became the first openly gay man elected to Congress as a non-incumbent, and in 2011, he made history again as the first openly gay parent in Congress. His election as governor marked another milestone, as he became the first openly gay man to hold such a position in a U.S. state and the first Jew elected governor of Colorado.
