Jason Spezza

Jason Spezza, born on June thirteenth, nineteen eighty-three, is a distinguished Canadian ice hockey executive and former professional player. Currently, he serves as the assistant general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL) and also holds the position of general manager for their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Spezza's illustrious NHL career as a center spanned nineteen seasons, from two thousand two to two thousand twenty-two. He began his major junior career at the young age of fifteen in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and was selected second overall in the two thousand one NHL entry draft by the Ottawa Senators. Following the departure of Daniel Alfredsson, he took on the role of team captain for the Senators.

During the NHL lockout in two thousand four to two thousand five, Spezza showcased his talent in the AHL, where he earned the Les Cunningham Award as league MVP while playing for the Binghamton Senators. In the two thousand five to two thousand six season, he set a franchise record for the Ottawa Senators with seventy-one assists and reached the ninety-point mark for the first time in his career, a feat he would achieve again later on. His career also included stints with the Dallas Stars and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On the international stage, Spezza proudly represented Canada at three World Junior Championships and two World Championships. Notably, he made his World Junior debut in two thousand, becoming only the third sixteen-year-old in history to join the team, following in the footsteps of legends Wayne Gretzky and Eric Lindros.
